Hartford SW Serie

HARTFORD’s current production includes a wide range of gantry machining centers with moving table and fixed crosshead.

The SWORD Series stems from Hartford’s experience with more than 1,800 Gantry Machining Centers built over the past 15 years with certification at Boeing Aircraft U.S.A. It is a product range designed for large workpieces and difficult-to-machine materials.

The complete range is manufactured in 16 models (from 2 to 6 m longitudinal travel) in a variety of versions to cover different application needs and from time to time customized according to customer requirements.

The monolithic base made of stabilized Meehanite cast iron, with lattice structure that allows heat dissipation and vibration damping, is equipped with amply sized flat guides that have characteristics of high rigidity, low sliding friction. The large dimensions of the guideways on the base ensure uniform weight distribution, absolute stillness of the workpiece, smooth movements resulting in longer machine life, superior cutting capabilities and absolute precision in machining.

Also special is the monolithic structure of the spindle head, made of special cast iron, characterized by ribs and “drains” between the various elements. The axis motors are connected to the spindle by a planetary type gearbox to increase axis thrust and accelerations.
