Sodick ALC-G iGE+ series

The ALC iGE+ range features significant improvements in cutting speed, geometric precision and surface finish; this is thanks to the AXIAL WIRE ROTATION, a system patented by Sodick for this model. The major benefits of this function are to be found in the extreme precision of parallelism and perpendicularity of the walls, combined with a remarkable surface homogeneity especially in the case of very low roughness and, last but not least, a wire saving of 30%, starting from the first pass, compared to the conventional machine. The generator contains numerous circuits to optimally control the discharge gap depending on the application. Roughing is controlled with an optimum pulse to achieve superior precision in terms of surface quality and shape. The unit is based on an energy-saving design and works to minimise unnecessary energy losses. Sodick’s linear motors with a 10-year warranty offer high dynamic response and, thanks to a direct drive mechanism, guarantee outstanding positioning accuracy and greater stability during machining. With no parts subject to wear and maintenance, excellent performance is guaranteed for a long time.

The linear motor allows greater sensitivity in controlling the discharge; a special circuit adapts the technology according to the change in thickness: the TC ‘Thinking Circuit’ automatically detects the height of the workpiece and works out optimal machining parameters. The Meehanite cast iron structure and the ceramic that makes up some of the machine’s basic elements allow for high performance in terms of insulation, wear resistance, low weight and extreme machining accuracy.

The ‘TH COM’ function makes it possible to control and correct any thermal deviation due to variations in ambient temperature. Four filters are housed in the new tank, while its structure is divided into three compartments to ensure a constant supply of clean water during operation.
The liquid tank is equipped with a newly developed energy-saving pump system. Also included as standard is a circuit that monitors the flow of liquid to the heads during processing. This intelligent monitoring system helps to reduce the energy used by the pump for flushing.

As a result, the ALC series achieves a considerable 20% reduction in power consumption, including standby, compared to standard models. This advance in energy efficiency provides cost savings and environmental benefits without compromising performance.
The new ‘SPW’ CNC equipped with a DUAL CORE high-speed processor and the new 19″ LCD monitor with integrated touch panel is used in the ALC Series to further improve NC operation.
