Sodick AL SERIES

The Sodick AL EDM series is equipped with the latest NC unit and ‘SP’ discharge generator, capable of high-speed, high-precision and high-efficiency machining.
The user interface benefits from a 19″ colour touch screen with user-friendly functions and an interactive programming system called LN Pro.
The TMM 4 circuit can provide up to 50 per cent more discharge voltage than the conventional machine. The new BSN4 circuit improves the quality and speed of erosion in finishing through efficient, nano-second control of ON-TIME active discharge.

The most important features of the linear motors developed and manufactured in-house by Sodick are the high-speed axis movement and the fast response resulting from movement in the absence of conventional ballscrews. Conventional drive systems use screws to convert the rotary motion of the motor into the linear motion of the axis, leading to the inevitable deterioration of mechanical parts with consequent backlash. Linear motors provide movement directly to each axis without the roundabout – linear conversion just described.

The AL series adopts the latest generation of Sodick ‘K-SMC’ axis control, which offers even shorter response times of 0.4 to 1 microsecond.
The complete integration with the generator allows for a more efficient control of axis movement with respect to discharge gap conditions.
The most important components, in order to achieve processing
precise and efficient, they are made of ceramic material developed
and produced in-house by Sodick.

All AL series models are equipped as standard with the new ‘TH COM’ temperature compensation system.
Temperature sensors are installed on the machine body, the NC registers any temperature fluctuations and automatically compensates for thermal drift by moving the axes.
